We believe open and honest communication is what will set your child up for success. By explaining dentistry in kid-friendly terms, we can alleviate fear and motivate your child to LOVE taking care of his or her teeth. Excellent communication with you, as the parent, allows us to adapt to your child's specific needs, to help us make the dental visit as easy as possible, and ensure you and your child have all the information to maintain their beautiful smile.
What are dental sealants, and why does my child need them?
Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth (molars). They help prevent cavities by sealing out food particles and bacteria from hard-to-reach areas. Sealants are especially helpful for children as their brushing habits develop and can last for several years.
What are white fillings, and why are they used for cavities?
White fillings, also known as composite fillings, are made from tooth-colored materials that blend in with your child’s natural teeth. They are used to treat cavities and restore the appearance and function of the tooth. Unlike metal fillings, white fillings are discreet and durable, making them an excellent choice for pediatric dental care.
How often should my child have dental check-ups?
We recommend that children have dental check-ups every six months. Regular exams and cleanings help prevent tooth decay and other dental issues, and they allow us to monitor the development of your child’s teeth and gums as they grow.
Are digital X-rays safe for my child?
Yes, digital X-rays are extremely safe and use significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays. They allow us to quickly and accurately assess your child’s dental health and are an important tool in diagnosing issues that may not be visible during a regular exam.
